Mustangs and Wild Teams Now Recruiting Coaches

Volunteer Posting:  Head Coach and Assistant Coaches- Whitehorse Mustangs A and B  (U11 Jr. Mustangs, U13, U15, U18) and Wild (Female Rep) Teams 
Location: Whitehorse, Yukon

Season Start: Mid August

Whitehorse Minor Hockey is currently accepting applications for the position of Head Coaches for the 2026-2027 season for the following competitive rep teams:

• U11 Jr. Mustangs
• U13 Mustangs
• U15 Mustangs
• U18 Mustangs

• U11 Wild  
• U13 Wild  
• U15 Wild

We are seeking motivated, skilled, and enthusiastic coaches who are committed to player development, team success and fostering a high-performance culture.

About Whitehorse Minor Hockey

Whitehorse Minor Hockey is thriving—our grass roots programs have grown by over 25% in the past three years, reflecting the strong community support and increasing interest in the sport. 

As we continue building on that momentum, we are setting high expectations for our 2026-2027 coaching staff to lead with integrity, passion and professionalism.

Coach Requirements

All coaches must hold the appropriate BC Hockey / Hockey Canada certifications for their age division, including:

• Respect in Sport (RIS)
• Concussion Awareness Training Tool (CATT)
• Criminal Record Check (CRC)
• Checking Skills Certification
• Coach 2 Certification
• Development 1 Certification

Previous coaching experience, strong leadership skills, and a passion for player development are essential. Experience in competitive hockey programs is a strong asset.

Coach Responsibilities

• Plan and run engaging, effective practices and game strategies
• Promote skill development, discipline and teamwork
• Maintain open, respectful communication with players, families and the organization
• Uphold the values of Whitehorse Minor Hockey and the Mustangs program
• Comply with all policies set by Hockey Canada, BC Hockey, and the Whitehorse Minor Hockey Association
• Coaches must be available for travel outside the territory to attend tournaments.
• Head Coaches may be asked to aid in the recruiting and selecting of Assistant Coaches for their respective teams, ensuring alignment with the team’s goals and coaching philosophy.
