U9 Champs Rink Board Schedule
Hi U9 Coaches,
WMHA will be using our half ice board system throughout the U9 Yukon Champs. A few things to note:
- The City Rink attendants do not set up the boards for us; we will need to ask that U9 coaches pitch in, many hands make lighter work. There is limited time to set up or take down, and get flood in 15 mins, so need to move quickly and safely. Its worth it!
- The board trolly system now has rubber tires, and may be able to be wheeled on the ice (TBD)
- Players cannot help, and cannot go onto the ice at any time until the board are fully assembled; and the zamboni is off the ice, with the zamboni door closed.
Rink Board Schedule:
Friday
- 4:15 PM Setup - Assemble Boards (need help from a coach from each of: Klondike Chev, Kilrich, Cdn Tire, Kluane)
- 6:05 PM Flood Move - Remove two boards on side near benches, one coach hold board system up, other coach put the end V shaped end pieces back on to stabilize - this allows Zamboni to go though and clean far end - then return and clean near end. Replace boards and lock in. You do not need to fully remove boards. Do be mindful of where zamboni is and stay clear to provide them lots of space (need help from a coach from each of: (U9 Girls, Wildstone -only 2 or 3 coaches required)
- 8:00 PM - Take down Boards - put on trolly (need help from a coach from each of: U9 Girls, HJ, KD, Kilrich). Wheel Trolly away from gate and out of the way.
Saturday
- 3:00 PM Setup - Assemble Boards (need help from a coach from each team playing first game)
- 4:50 PM Flood - Remove two boards on side near benches, one coach hold board system up, other coach put the end V shaped end pieces back on to stabilize (see Flood Move from Friday - only 2 or 3 coaches for move)
- 8:00 PM - Take down Boards - put on trolly (need help from a coach from each team). Wheel Trolly away from gate and out of the way.
Sunday
- 8:00 AM Setup - Assemble Boards (need help from a coach from each team playing first game)
- 10:20 AM Flood - Remove two boards on side near benches, one coach hold board system up, other coach put the end V shaped end pieces back on to stabilize (see Flood Move from Friday - only 2 or 3 coaches for move to limit people on ice while zamboni active)
- 12:15 PM - Take down Boards - put on trolly (need help from a coach from each team). Wheel Trolly away from gate and out of the way.
Shift Changes:
- Shift Change on 3 Min buzzers - no faceoff - Live Action
- Two teams share one bench and with the boards assembled, one door is blocked, so both teams need to go through one door. To keep the shift change fair - at buzzer, players going on ice should go on the ice first (before others players come off) and line up on boards (as quickly as possible) - once each team is ready along boards, the ref will throw the puck to open ice near the last place of play action.
- Coaches please explain this plan to your players before the first game and reinforce it throughout.
Thanks,
U9 Yukon Champs!
