Pertinent Zoom links (url, meeting ID, passcode) are provided to you upon registration within eHockey. Development 1 Part 2 will be hosted in-person, and dates and locations will be listed soon.

As per BC Hockey Policy 10.04, coaches who are coaching at levels where Coach 1 or Coach 2 is required must attend an appropriate clinic prior to December 15, 2020 to remain eligible for the balance of the 2020-2021 season. Coaches who are coaching at levels where Development 1 is required must attend both Development 1 Part 1 (online) and Part 2 (in-person) prior to December 1, 2020 to remain eligible for the balance of the 2020-2021 season.

Development 1 Part 2 will be hosted in-person, featuring classroom and on-ice components. Dates for these clinics are still TBD.

To confirm which level of certification is required for head and assistant coaches to coach at each level of play, please follow THIS LINK to the “Team Requirements” page of the BC Hockey website.

Coaches registering for Coach 1 and/or Coach 2 are required to complete “HU - ONLINE Coach 1/Coach 2” as a prerequisite to both clinics. Coaches can follow THIS LINK to register.

Completion of “HU - Planning a Safe Return to Hockey” is a prerequisite to Coach 1, Coach 2, and Development 1 Part 1 clinics. Coaches can follow THIS LINK to register.

Completion of “HU - ONLINE Checking” is required for head coaches at the U11, U13 Competitive, U13 Recreational, U15 Competitive, U15 Recreational, U15 AAA, and CSSHL U16 Prep levels. Coaches can follow THIS LINK to register.

Additional required components for all coaches to complete to be granted roster eligibility (if not already completed):

Here's the link to the free Respect In Sport Activity Leader Program course through the Yukon Gov website.  Coaches have to link the certificate # to their HCR profile.  WMHA Coaches are welcome to use this option for and if you do, please let us know so we can make sure it's linked to your Hockey Canada Profile.

Completion of this process grants the coach “Trained” status for the 2020-2021 season. To progress to certified status in Development 1, a coach will need to complete the following steps:

  • Attend both the Development 1 Part 1 (online) and the Development 1 Part 2 (in-person) clinics
  • Pass the post-clinic task (written assignment)
  • Pass the field evaluation

Neither Coach 1 nor Coach 2 ascend higher than “Trained” status. Coach 1 delegates will receive “Trained” status immediately upon completion of the Coach 1 clinic. Coach 2 delegates will receive “Trained” status upon their MHA’s submission of their post-clinic task verification form to BC Hockey.

These coaching clinic updates will be discussed during October’s BC Hockey Return to Hockey Membership Video Conference on Friday, October 9, 2020.

Any questions on coaching clinics can be directed to BC Hockey Manager, Athlete Development Dave Cunning at dcunning@bchockey.net.
