Friday, Saturday & Sunday - December 13^th, 14^th &15^th,2019

Town of Faro Recreation Centre

The Pelly River Hockey Challenge is a Town of Faro initiative in partnership with the RCMP, the National Hockey League Players Association Goals & Dreams program, Rogers Sportsnet and private sponsorship.

The camp is open to Yukon Girls & Boys aged 7 to 17 years old who already know how to skate.

The camp’s goal is to promote camaraderie, develop hockey skills, enhance fitness levels and expose youth to mental health coping strategies.

The entirety of the event will be held at the Town of Faro Rec Centre.

Sleeping accommodations will be setup at the rec centre - parent/guardian/chaperon must stay with youth at all times - You must bring your own sleeping bag and mattress. Showers and washrooms on site - Bring your own towel & soap.

Meals & snacks will be provided starting on Friday evening until lunch on Sunday. We cannot guarantee a peanut free environment so make sure your child takes appropriate measures if she/he has a peanut, dairy, egg or other food allergies.

“Hockey Night in Canada Party - Spaghetti Dinner” will be held Saturday at 4:00pm - We will be broadcasting live NHL games - Youth must wear their favorite hockey jersey! Autograph session and prizes to be awarded.

We are pleased to inform you that former NHL Player Chris Campoli will attend the camp! An autograph session is planned during the HNIC party. Chris will be meeting with every player during the camp and provide insight on playing hockey in the NHL and his path to the NHL. The entire event will be filmed by Sportsnet and broadcasted on Hockey Day in Canada.

Players and parents must bring appropriate clothing and gear. This include all of your hockey gear including mandatory neck guard, indoor clothing for fitness sessions including indoor athletic shoes and appropriate outdoor clothing.

A parents & kids floor hockey game is scheduled for Sunday at 11am in the gym

A First aider will be on site at all times. The health centre is located immediately beside the Rec Centre. Should an emergency occur, you child will be transported there immediately. Make sure that your child has her/his health care card with them.

In order to register your child, you must read, sign and email or fax back three (3) documents: the Information Sheet, the Registration Form and the Waiver of Liability.

The Pelly River Hockey Challenge has secured event insurance through iPlay Hockey.

The official schedule and timings will be made available upon in person registration at the Rec Centre on Friday afternoon. At that time, each player & parent/guardian/chaperon will receive a bracelet. From there, we will host the mandatory meeting and activities will begin immediately following the meeting.
