Whitehorse Minor Hockey
COVID-19 Return to Play Plan 2020
UPDATED -SEPTEMBER 19, 2020
*Subject to change
Whitehorse Minor Hockey is moving into the next steps of our Return to Play process. We are moving past SKILLS-into the EVALUATE and CREATE MINI LEAGUES/COHORTS stage.
Tryouts for Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget Mustangs programs AND House League Evaluations will begin the week of September 28th.
The tryouts and evaluations process are scheduled to take aprox 10 days. With team assignments and team drafts by house league coaches being completed before Thanksgiving.
In keeping with the guidelines set out by the CMOH, BC Hockey and Hockey Canada, while allowing us to fall within the requirements of the City of Whitehorse Facilities, the following plan will be in place until the Christmas break and will be re-evaluated at that time and there may be adjustments. The 14-day break over Christmas allows for cohorts to be modified if necessary.
Please note that this plan has been made with an incredible amount of consideration taking into account numerous factors and guidelines while we adhere to the Mission and Vision of Whitehorse Minor Hockey.

The cohorts are designed to group players to have the most parity within their mini league, enhancing the experience for the player in game play and in practices, and will also allow WMHA per Hockey Canada rules to transition to full ice and learning the rules for the older cohort in the new calendar year. This will better prepare them for U11. Siblings will be placed on the same team and cohort with placement based on the evaluations process. | |
